Game Components:
A modular game board. 16 beautifully illustrated 6”x6” game board tiles showing locations within Transylvania such as the Observatory, the Castle and the Graveyard. As Players explore Transylvania they pull new tiles from a randomly shuffled deck and lay them out in the direction they wish to go. When you set out on a path you never know exactly where it will lead you and the game board is different every time you play. (We plan to have a stretch goal to create art for four additional Tiles so that there are a total of 20 locations in Transylvania to explore)
Six Character Cards and pawns. Each player plays one of the courageous Adventurers. The Vatican has sent a representative to Transylvania. She’s a wicked Abbess that you don’t want to mess with. A (most likely mad) Scientist has arrived with his lab equipment to study the curious events and creatures in Transylvania. The Secret Agent is used to looking out for herself. She is here to solve this riddle and collect her reward. The Inventor is ready to bring his projects out of the workshop and test them against a real threat.
Each Character comes with a beautifully illustrated portrait and unique set of stats determining the speed they can travel, their ability to attack and defend themselves, their mental acuity for solving puzzles and riddles and their spiritual fortitude. Also on each character card is a health track. Bad luck and bad decisions can take their toll on an Adventurer’s health. Transylvania is a dangerous place and not everyone who goes out exploring makes it back alive. (Only two of the six character illustrations have been completed to show examples of the artwork. The highest tier KickStarter backers will have the opportunity to work with us and our artist to create characters based on their likenesses. There will also be a stretch goal to add four additional characters, giving the game a total of 10 Adventurers to choose from)
Three Monster Character cards and pawns. When a player is transformed into a Monster he/she will turn in the Adventurer Character card and take on the role of one of the bloodthirsty Monsters out to kill the other Adventurers. There is a Character Card and a player pawn for the Vampire, the Zombie and the Werewolf to show their movement and strength stats, health track and special ability.
The Quest Card Deck contains 70 illustrated cards. As you explore the game board there will be tokens that give you the opportunity to make die rolls based on character traits and earn Quest Cards. Quest Cards include items that can help you complete your mission, increase your character traits, protect you from Monsters and solve the Curse of Transylvania. Other cards in the deck are cursed items that make your life more difficult or give you extra options, but at a price. Finally, this deck contains the Transformation Cards. If you collect the wrong combination of cards you become the Monsters you seek to destroy.
The Event Card Deck contains 50 illustrated cards. Adventurers must draw from the Event Deck whenever they cross over a space on the board containing an Event Icon. Event cards require Adventurers to face perilous situations such as being attacked by vicious creatures, getting caught in traps or solving puzzles. Players make a die roll based on their character stats. Success results in rewards and Quest cards. Failure results in loss of health and sometimes death (don’t worry if you do die, you will revive back at the Church Tile on your next turn and set out once more. Many players have died as their first character and won as their second, though sometimes this involves looting your own corpse…).
Game Mechanic Items. There are 12 dice that will be used to earn Quest Cards, resolve Events and battle Monsters. There are tokens to indicate where Quest Cards may be attempted and what you must do to earn them. There are lock tokens to indicate locked gates and doors and blood splatter tokens to indicate where previous players have met their end. This is important because you have the opportunity to loot the corpse, but beware; you never know when that corpse will reanimate as a Zombie and rip your throat out.
